The Unofficial Homepage of St. Matthews: Many Thanks Owed

Many Thanks Owed

p>

The holiday season is here!  This is an exciting time for many people because we officially ushered in the Holiday Season last week, and even moreso because Thanksgiving is my favorite holiday.  It has been for some time which is kind of funny since it's not a holiday where anybody dresses up like another person or superhero or caricature of some shamed celebrity.  It's not a holiday where anyone typically receives a gift either.

The reason it is my favorite holiday is that ever since I was a kid, it's the one holiday where the majority of my family comes together in one place, and we can count on seeing one another.  Some people don't dig their family, some have lost quite a bit of their family, but my family is one that enjoys its get-togethers, we like to spend time together even though we really don't spend a ton of time together in a large group.  We like each other, we enjoy getting together, but we only get together a couple of times per year, and maybe that's the secret.  It's a rare, special appointment.

So it's in that spirit that I'm writing tonight to thank so many people who have helped make this year amazingly special.  In terms of business, business is good, and it's been good for two straight years.  In the face of a challenging economy resulting in a challenging housing market, The Thomas Group of Keller Williams Realty Louisville East has been able to sell more real estate than during any of the "boom years".  The thing about sales and being, essentially, a self-employed salesperson, is that we rely on others for referrals to feed our businesses.  I'm so thankful that enough people think we do a good enough job to willingly refer their friends, family, co-workers, and acquaintances to us for all their real estate needs.

It's really challenging to think about that.  We have the trust of so many, and all that realization does is foster gratitude in us toward those whose trust we've earned.  This type of gratitude though doesn't give us a green light to rest on our laurels.  It causes us to look for new and better ways to serve our clients.  It causes us to commit over and over again to an industry that is unpredictable, to the possibility of pay checks that may never come, to people who are sometimes emotional while buying the moste expensive thing they'll likely ever buy, and to do all of that with thankfulness for the opportunity to build something great.  That greatness is measured in referrals.  It's measured in testimonials that we received from our past clients.  It's measured in how we do the right things even when it could be more convenient to take a short cut.  It's measured by the satisfaction of our clients, vendors, and fellow agents when a win-win deal comes together.

So here's to finishing 2012 strong while enjoying the Holiday Season & preparing for success in 2013.
